Keeping Up With Algorithms
Just using SEO once won’t keep you at the top. The reason for this is because Google is constantly changing their criteria and algorithms. This means what might have put you at the top of the list last week, might have you several pages in this week. With that being said, it’s very easy to drop off the first page. Not only is this not good for your page but it’s also not good for trying to get new customers. It might sound complicated, but there are some things you can do to help stay on top of these changing criteria and algorithms.
Make sure all of the content on your website is unique and focused on keywords
Keep in mind, that doesn’t mean just stuff a bunch of keywords into your content because that can actually do the opposite of what you’re trying to accomplish. Make sure everything flows nicely and makes sense. If the Google algorithm picks up on content that doesn’t make sense and just has a bunch of keywords placed randomly, then they will penalize you. That’s the last thing you want. In terms of uniqueness, you want to try and make your website have information that other ones don’t. This will help you stand out and get more views.
Get website traffic from several different sources
Having more diverse traffic will help Google see that you aren’t just targeting one audience. There are so many different types of sources and you want to have several on your website without making it slow down or become laggy. Some of the sources you can use are: videos, pictures, and written content. The written content can be anything from a blog that features your website to posts on social media.
Build up your inbound links
Basically, an inbound link is a link that comes from a different website to yours. They are also referred to as backlinks. An example of this would be someone pressing on your link through Facebook to get to your website. While you can post your own links on other websites, if someone else does it, then their followers and readers will be more likely to push on it. A good example would be a blog owner posting your link in one of their posts. Building up inbound links can also put you higher on the search engine results because the more backlinks your website has, the higher chance of the search engine considering you an expert on the subject.
Be sure to have your website give users an enjoyable and fun experience
For starters, make sure your website runs nicely and looks good on multiple devices. You don’t want it to look great on a computer but look horrible and not work right on mobile. Another thing you can do is take away pop-up ads. Users don’t like being in the middle of reading something and have a pop-up ad interrupting them. One of the most important things you can do is take the time to really make your content stand out and interesting. You don’t want users to fall asleep while trying to visit your website!
